About me and the kennels history, breeding goals and policy.

My name is Inger Thaarup. I live together with my family and our dogs in the southern part of Stockholm, the Capital of Sweden. Around us we have large free spaces, forests and lakes. We also have elks, links, wolfs occasionally but usually deer, foxes and other smaller animals and birds. In the Summer our Aussies spend a lot of time in the woods In the Winter they usually are attending classes, training programs and in some cases having their puppies.

I came in contact with the breed at a show in Stockholm 1997. I felt instantly that this was a dog for me. After reading all the literature I could find about Australian Shepherd I was convinced this was the dog for me.

How to get an Aussie ? I was lucky! 6 months later I was the proud owner of my first Australian Shepherd, Rocky. When Rocky was about 6 months I thought it would be fun for him the have a playmate that had the same energetic and playful manners as he had. I began looking for a bitch with breeding quality. My search resulted in my two female imports, Ruby from Hawaii and Erica from Finland.

In 1999 I received my kennel name” Kennel Star Breed’s”.

I want all my dogs to be ASCA and AKC registered and I am in the process having this done. To the best of my knowledge the dogs used in the breeding program are free from hereditary defects and, good temperaments, structure, movement, mentally sound and to have working motivation. I try to balance beauty, structure, movement, mentality and working capacity in the puppies.

The dogs have their own individual training program. We are into the areas Confirmation, Agility, Tracking and Obedience. Other areas of interest are herding, search and wild rescue tracking. All dogs are mentally tested before been breed.

In Sweden we have about eight hundred Aussies. Our neighbor countries; Finland, Norway and Denmark have half the Swedish population. This small number of dogs gives us a very narrow breeding base. Many with me think that this gives us a risk of a high inbreeding coefficient. is way I use USA breed Aussies that meet my demands of quality and standard.
